Into the Vast

I'm back! Admittedly, I've dabbled between self-hosting with Wordpress and Jekyll powered by GitHub Pages—YES, I was standards non-compliant! The tricky thing about providing your own standards page is the knowledge that it can be altered with a text editor!
Yet, it's not the oscillation as to why I haven't posted recently. Technically, yesterday, I've posted ALL sorts of content like 264 posts! I scoured the Internet in search of everything I've written on my websites. Sadly, I don't have the majority of it. Outside of merely THREE posts, I have absolutely nothing from 2005 to 2016. And as far as journals prior from 1990 to 2001—well, there's another lost decade—or even my 60-page, single-spaced typed journal from my first time in Europe back in 2004...all of it spanning back from a hard drive failure in that move from Alaska.
That said, I recovered a pivotal period of my life with the Wayback Machine and I'm kicking myself that I moved on to Wordpress.
Floating Apart from Associations and Awareness
I haven't been engaged with my fitness approach. With the exception of today, there have been no early mornings. Even today, I spent only about 20 minutes on the treadmill as a reminder how I find the spoken word as a COMPLETE WORKOUT WRECKER. I cannot work out to audiobooks and podcasts. I just can't! It's my kryptonite! As I engage my mind, it's like I take a couple steps back from my connection to the physical world.
And hey, my Vibrams were reeking of past success, so I gotta run them through a bleach cycle before adoring them in adorning.
Overall, I haven't been charged to cut the weight as I was in the past...that changes today. Is it a light switch? I think so: movies do it all the time; songs regularly ping pong our emotions across our cognitive array.
Critical to my success is the awareness of my activities. Where my diet tracking is right on the market, I have been largely indifferent to my physical status—I haven't monitored and reacted to my daily steps and haven't thought about my minutes spent in workouts since The 11th Expedition...and as I'm nearly at the halfway point of The 15th Expedition, that's gotta change!
Time to crack out my hero outfit. The super one is on layaway.

Another Expedition has come to a close; a new Expedition begins. Hello The 15th Expedition: may you exceed in value above all prior Expeditions!
How did The 14th Expedition fare?
I lost 12 lbs!
| Categories | Average Values | Difference from 13th |
|---|---|---|
| Fat (g) | 212.2 | + 16 |
| Protein (g) | 128.0 | - 23.5 |
| Total Carb (g) | 35.4 | + 4.9 |
| Kcal | 2535.7 | + 238.1 |
| Fat % of Kcal | 74.5% | + 3.70% |
| Protein % of Kcal | 19.7% | - 4.33% |
| Total Carb % of Kcal | 5.52% | + 0.63% |
Of course, both of these Expeditions were in a context without regular (mostly none) of daily workouts. While I had planned a reduction of fat grams, I was surprised that they actually went up. The elevated total carbs are due to an experiment with flaxseed and broccoli, though I don't buy that net carbs cancel out total carbs—there's a diminished relationship there, though who's to say what happens exactly? So, I dialed back my flax seed consumption from 5 tbsp highs.
Emotionally, I cannot say I'm stoked with a 2 lb per week average, though that's the prevailing advice of healthy weightloss. Clearly without working out and literally eating pork, eggs, butter and cheese everyday, weightloss comes easy.
But, I like popping the BIG NUMBERS!
Thus, 2 lbs /week is the baseline, what I lose by doing nothing other than...well, I can't even say I hit my gram goals, though I'm happy with the macros.
Beyond the scale, what did The 14th bring me?
While The 13th Expedition introduced innovation, The 14th reviewed everything under a critical eye.
I like the rollout of Software Standards. In like fashion, I'm re-examining my media consumption, specifically podcasts and books. I recognized I've handled that area of my life as an All-You-Can-Eat buffet, as I'm now adopting an All-You-CARE-to Eat approach.
For the 15th, I'm pouring on a big ol' serving of workouts on to plate! I've never outperformed a consecutive Expedition before, and it's time for that! More about that in the future...

I'm in the last day of The 14th Expedition! OK, I don't expect I'll hit big numbers tomorrow; in fact, I've hit a bit of a wall in the last week or so—it's why I started this week to FINALLY implement a workout program!
There are new features on this site! While there are some better organized features on this site, I now I have a Software Standards page. Read more about it here...
It is something I've needed and I'm surprised that it took me this long for it to enter my mind. I don't know of anyone else who ever applied it to their own life, but it makes sense.
I've also expanded my Fit section, by not only adding my training approach, but also including THREE GMT-5 based countdowns, the first time I've done so for a static website, countdowns for...
- the 808-Day, Part II Approach;
- the current Expedition;
- and my return to Facebook.
I have ideas for more content, but I didn't want to get too far ahead on the dev side without updating the live site.
And for that matter, I've never clearly defined what exactly this site should be all about or even its scope as its worn a few hats over the years. Even as a place for just self-expression, there's a context that ought to be defined, right?
