Perfect Situation (2005) and ÜBerlin (2011)

I love the above track by Weezer. I remember when it came out back in 2005. It was the first album I purchased for my new 1999 Yukon, it's leather interior quite an upgrade from my bicycle. Yes, for five months after donating my truck, I chose to ride a bicycle for my 4 mile ride to my IT gig at UofM. I was in great shape and had more cash than I knew what to do with. Of course, the years would pass and after adding a wife and 3 kids, I'd leave that ol' Yukon behind in the snow at the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport as a donation on Halloween night '14.

The mood of the song remains applicable today, a transition-feel toward something better.

Week 5 of The Second Six Weeks begins tomorrow.

I'm reminded of one of my anthems from summer 2012, the song below, that along with Shinedown and the soundtrack to Into the Wild, accompanied me with my learning and teaching in the Czech Republic. There is something out there in the horizon, for I'm never been one to "go gentle into that good night."

Resident Evil: Extinction (2007)

Saturday, June 9, 2018

...it's not the Sun, I hit another wall in today's workout, one in which it got to the point I was too fatigued to keep pushing the elliptical and I still had 50 minutes left. I rotated to the treadmill for 10 minutes, got back on the elliptical, went to do a couple of sets of crunches on the exercise ball, elliptical, then rotated in the recumbent bike...it was just a challenging morning. My best performance came in the late stages after the movie was over with and I just listened to synthwave as I pedaled.

I skipped my shower this morning and will be making circles with the John Deere for the next 2 ½ hours in that never ending struggle with the yard. After I drive out the trash to the sanitation station, I'll wash my morning's work off.

As what i ought to do about this wall that I'm hitting, I'm perplexed. By way of comparison, my after lunch workouts are 40-45 minutes and are fast and furious—but, they're not in a fasted state. I wouldn't rule out psychological either: perhaps movies alert me to my present condition whereas I can get lost in the music.

I suspect it is because of this lower low carb diet in an intermittent fasting context where my last meal is around 11AM.

Well, off I go: it's 6:30AM and the yard ain't gonna cut itself. It's gonna be a hot one later today.

Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004)

Friday, June 8, 2018

Now that I'm beyond the Underworld series, I begin the second movie from the Resident Evil franchise. Yes, there's that little bugger inside of me that gnaws because I don't start with the first one, but I never could find it at the now closed video rental shop. But, it's ok because I've seen it enough I could do a decent retelling of the story. It's not as much of fun to do cardio to movies I know well, and hence why I've been staying away from my stalwarts—who knows, I haven't ruled out Oceans 11-13, Passengers, Into the Wild, or even Stranger Things. But, I don't see myself delving into my ST:TNG or DS9 sets.

Speaking of Stranger Things, instead of an introduction, I discovered synthwave music month prior before watching the show for the first time. I really enjoy the genre and (not a) SURPRISE, I pulled out my text editor returned this website back to the scheme I created with a retrowave vibe.

I returned the recumbent bike to my gym. There still remains a place for it in my regimen. Today was a good workout, though my intensity began to die out in the last half hour. I suppose my muscles being taxed is bound to happen on a low carb, intermittent fasting diet as the last time I ate was around 11AM the day prior, and I had another workout between this morning and then—so, not a whole lot of glucose to tap. I need to rotate exercises to keep my heart rate up.

However, I smashed through yesterday's wall. I'm thinking it was due to my sunbathing, at least that's my experiment for now. Or, more specifically, I'm sweating out electrolytes faster than I can replace, or more specifically, sodium, potassium, calcium, chloride and/or magnesium. I don't know if I can work out in the morning and lunchtime along with sunbathe. But, it's just a working theory at this time.

To maximize intensity, I'm considering on bringing my resistance program back into the morning so that I can push hard on cardio and do resistance, while later in the day, return to higher intensity cardio.
