Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011)

...ok, truth be told, I began this morning's cardio by finishing up MI:III before moving on to MI:IV. I tried to finish it with yesterday's cardio, including a 30-minute session before bed, but couldn't.

Week 2 of the Second Expedition begins. I haven't solidified any upgrades for this week in my training. While I miss resistance, this cardio-only program pours the sweat off of me. While I previously heralded the super slow motion approach to resistance—I still believe it is superior for strength, I fear it make weaken motivation. But, it's great while working through an injury. My intercostal injury that occurred two weeks ago is largely a nonissue now. There's just a little tenderness if I contort my body just right, but it no longer impacts my day-to-day.

Of course, I want full cardio in the mornings, and as to any time I carve out for something else, would it make sense to go resistance if cardio is superior for fat loss? What good is muscle definition behind a slab of fat? That said, there will be a transition into greater resistance adoption, but for now, the time would be better used by concentration on shredding the fat.

But, I do long for a resistance program by moving my body through space and look forward to a sub-200 lb weight when I'll buy a power tower for pullups, dips, etc.

Mission: Impossible 3 (2006)

It's a Sunday, my day of rest—in theory. In practice, I chose to spend my first 3 hours related to cutting the grass since we're getting a large shipment of rain in this week. I followed it up with dropping some pesticide against a large column of fireants who retaliated be sending 5 commandos atop my foot, leaving 3 welts in their response. Thereafter, I spent some time sunbathing, something I really haven't done (purposely) since 2005. It was surprisingly welcoming and I hope it helps this poison ivy rave I'm trying to simmer down. I'll have to find a way to add it to my weekly regimen.

Finally, I did an hour of light-light cardio while watching the movie. I picked up MI:III after another run at the closing video rental store. In a span of a week, we picked up 355 titles. It's just hard to walkaway from a 6 for $10 DVD/Blue-rays. A lot of great movies and among them that we were able to snag was a great Christmas collection. People don't think about Christmas in May. Watching Christmas movies is a fun tradition for us during that month of hope and memories, but it's expensive to buy everything, so in the past we rented. And now, we can say we have the Home Alone‘s; Ralphie and his A Christmas Story; the hijinks of Christmas Vacation; Buddy the Elf's saga; my longtime favorite, It's a Wonderful Life; and many more.

Mission: Impossible 2 (2000)

A Saturday! I clocked in a little extra cardio this morning for a few reasons:

  • I could afford it;
  • it's the last day of my training week;
  • My feet were feeling great!

In the future, I'm going to have extra long cardio sessions on Saturday; it'll give me the opportunity to play longer movies.

If it wasn't for yesterday's rain, I wanted to do what I did last weekend at this time and that's to fire up the ol' John Deere and mow some fire ant hills down. Normally, I'll knock over...10 or so mounds around my property each...honestly, I don't really count; I just notice the big plume of dirt that erupts after I run over their base. Usually, I don't mind them much, except that just yesterday, they were running a long line right in front of my side door that I use all the time. In fact, I picked up a bite from them on my foot despite stepping over it. Since I picked up one on my finger and two more on a leg. So, I set up a few borax sugar baits to see if I can knock 'em back. You just can't stop the fire ant. In the apocalypse, there's going to be a cage match with what remains of civilization between the fireant and the cockroach.

Of course, around 2PM today, I'll kick off a 40-hour water fast that end after Monday's workout. I need to develop Sunday more than just a day of cessation.
